Jonathan Furness, Head Teacher

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. It is a great privilege to be the Head Teacher at Ivy Chimneys Primary School and I believe that my role is to provide the very best education and opportunities for pupils who attend our school. I wholeheartedly believe in an inclusive education system, one that strives to ensure that all children are able achieve at the very highest level, whether that be in reading, writing, maths or in any other non-core curriculum subject, such as dance, drama or art. We value all talents at Ivy Chimneys and we believe in providing children with a broad and balanced curriculum.

At Ivy we introduced our six Learning Behaviours, independance, resilience, curiosity, teamwork, reflection and creativity. These learning behaviours are especially important for children to develop whilst preparing them for a future beyond school education. Our future workforce will need employees who are creative and curious to find solutions to problems that we haven't yet discovered. We will need people who can work collaboratively yet have the skills to work well on their own. In addition, I firmly believe that we never stop learning which means having a mindset which is able to reflect on what has been achieved so far and ask ourselves, "How would I improve on that next time?"
