Pre-teach for Children and Parents
We are delighted to be able to continue to provide pre-teach to families in Years 1 through to 6.
WHAT IS PRE-TEACH?
Pre-teach is an opportunity for parents to work with their own children at an after-school session to learn about a specific area of learning. At the present time, we are focussing on mathematics. These sessions preempt the teaching that will take place in the following week which is why these sessions are held on Thursdays and Fridays. This also explains why there are no pre-teach sessions in the week before a holiday period. However, they will generally resume in the first week after the holiday.
WHO LEADS PRE-TEACH?
The following teachers lead our pre-teach sessions:
Year 1/2 - Miss Spears (Thursday 3:15 - 3:50pm)
Year 3/4 - Mrs Gladstone (Friday 3:20pm - 4pm)
Year 5/6 - Mrs Moulsher (Friday 3:20pm - 4pm)
This is a prime opportunity to find out about the current mathematical strategies used in the teaching of mathematics and it is for this reason that they are very popular. The children's confidence also benefits and they feel much more prepared to grasp new concepts in the following week, especially if some of the activities are continued at home over the weekend.
If you are unable to make the pre-teach sessions, please feel free to collect any handouts. However, handouts aren't produced for every session so there may not always be something you can take away with you. If your child is involved in an after school club on either the Thursday or Friday sessions, parents are welcome to attend the sessions without their children.
* Please note that pre-teach sessions are subject to change and we will notify you of any changes.
